Jack Stephens, Executive Director, has been playing or living in wilderness since his days as a Boy Scout where he began honing his skills in wildcrafting, shelter and applied ecology. Lessons drawn from nature kindled an early passion for leadership development coaching and Jack has taught or coached throughout North America and Europe for the past 20 years. He has worked with individuals, businesses, organizations, and governments.  He is a former office manager of the Cob Cottage Company, an occasional cob-building teacher and is co-founder and director of the Natural Building Network, connecting natural builders worldwide and creating opportunities for the natural building movement to step forward into prominence. Carrie Campbell, Associate Director and co-founder of the Natural Building Network.  Carrie is a designer and consultant passionate about creating a world in which people feel a holistic connection to place as well as to each other. Carrie assists individuals and communities in their reintegration into the balance and abundance of thriving natural systems. Carrie currently supports leadership development in the natural building and sustainable food production programs operating onsite at O.U.R. ECOVILLAGE in Shawnigan Lake (Vancouver Island), B.C. She is a graduate of the Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. She lives in Eugene, Oregon, in the off-building season and can be reached at carrie [at] nbnetwork.org.

Board of Directors

Carolyn Hernandez  Carolyn is chair of the Membership and Affiliations Committee. She is passionate about Natural Building becoming a choice option for builders of Home and Community. Her passion has taken her to explore the various models of natural building and its applications in various settings and situation. As a connector of ideas, people and community, she moves toward the highest potential of any situation creating an alchemical opportunity for effective change.  A project being birthed by Carolyn is a collaboration of women to create ”The Gaia Center” in Ojai California, where she lives. It is planned to be naturally built and permaculturally correct. Her desire to be a support for the  Natural Building Movement has led her to being an active Board Member for the Natural Building Network, promoting it,  developing guilds and apprenticeship programs,  educating, organize gatherings, organizing the “books”, and offering her managerial counsel as needed.  Email: carolynhernandez [at] netzero.net

Chris McClellan  Chris is chair of the Education Committee. He specializes in information access and synthesis, connecting people and businesses around the world with the resources that support their livelihoods and further their passions for over 15 years.  Chris' micro-publishing company, IndustrialRustic, produces print-on-demand books, cd and dvds on natural building topics including strawbale curriculum and the work of SunRay Kelley.  As an enthusiastic owner-builder, he sees here a unique opportunity to reintroduce expediency and sustainability as core elements in the increasingly complex social dance that building has become. http://industrialrustic.com/ . Dafyd Rawlings  Dafyd is chair of the Resource Information Committee. He is a LEED accredited professional, permaculture-certified designer and intern architect. He has experience building conventionally and naturally in the western states and Mexico and working in various cultures around the world. He has taught natural building at The Farm, Lama Foundation, Ecoversity, World Hands Project and Spirit Pine Ranch. Dafyd lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Email: dafydrawlings [at] yahoo.com

Candy Vanderhoff  Candy is chair of the Communications Committee. She is a consultant in green building materials and bioclimatic home design. Is Interested in spiritual process and methods of construction as it relates to ones values and beliefs based on vast research of indigenous architecture of Oceania.  Recently founded poetrybench.com, a women's earthen bench building group in San Diego, California where she live.  Writes and teaches sustainable village design and native plant restoration programs to youth.  Owner/ builder of a two chamber cob oven and is currently designing homes for Katrina victims.
